I want to fly

Shackles bind me
Tighter than ever
Prejudice ruin my days
How am I to escape?

I wish to be free
From the bitter half of me.
I shudder at my vanity
And the insatiable longings.

I want to fly like a bird
In the vast blue sky
Possessions turn obsolete
And I fly towards freedom.

Its a dream
That comes to me daily
In the most gloomy hours
Bringing the wings of freedom.
